Doing paper works, researching about important facts, writing down articles, reading different books. These are mentally taxing activities which often leave our desks messy. The rewarding effects brought by such mental activities do not compensate most of the time for the troubles we suffer every time we have to look for some stuff lost in the pile of papers, books and other things.  Our passion to stuff our mind with knowledge need not cover up our laziness to clean and organize the things we place on our desks. So, admit if you have messy desk, and accept that you are just plain lazy to put things in order. However, find some time everyday to organize your stuff by following the following tips for desk organizations.

·       Boxes, Cabinets, Rack

Desk organization can be made easy with the use of some materials. The best thing to do to organize the stuff in your desk is to have boxes, cabinets, or file managers where you can place your papers or documents. It is better if you put similar stuff together in the same cabinet or rack so you will not be confused in looking for any paper or book that you want. Moreover, you can label the boxes so you can identify where you have placed some documents and other stuff. This way, there is no need to set out for paper or document hunting which is usually the case when you have messy desk.

·       Get Rid of Thrash

There may come a time when some papers that are stacked in the cabinets or racks become thrashes. When this happens, then do not just let them rot where they are, throw them away in the garbage can so your new documents can have a space to dwell on your cabinets or racks. Moreover, avoid post-it notes and printouts. Instead of having post-it notes posted on your monitor or at any part of your desk, have a notebook instead placed inside the drawer of your desk. As to your printouts, they are not needed to be kept because you have them in your computer. Desk organization is simply limiting the number of papers you have on your desk.

·       Don’t Stack A Lot of Books

A desk is not only for writing, it is for reading too. But do not place books in your desk. Put a shelf in your room where you can place your books. When it comes to office desk, avoid stacking it with unimportant books. Maybe, one or two books that is highly relevant to your work are worthy of a space in your desk. Moreover, you don’t read a lot in your office, so have your reading period right at your home.

·       No Food On Your Desk

Sometimes, hectic schedule mat take too much of your snack or lunch time. However, it is not a good excuse for you to place your food on your desk most especially when it clutters a lot. Small bits of food may linger on your desk which can attract insects to come into it and, as a result, tear away your documents. Have your eating period be spent on canteen or anywhere far from your desk.

·       Clean Your Desk Regularly

Desk organization is physically taxing for those who are not used to cleaning their own desk. To make it a habit, make sure that you find time everyday to clean your desk. This way you can keep your desk clean and organized.
