Avoiding Room Clutter
You don’t have to be a housewife, a housekeeper, or a professional organizer to be able to weed out all room clutter at home. It only takes the will and a little bit of self-motivation to do it. Since you are the one who stays in your room most of the time, you alone know where to place all your items to keep it tidy and accessible for you. That only means you alone should know how to put things back in place every after use to keep it tidy and to avoid turning it upside down when you look for something.
Spend five minutes daily before you leave for work to check on your stuff and make sure that everything is in place. Here’s what you can do in those five minutes:
• Place your sleep wear in the laundry basket when you think it has to be washed.
• Return all makeup and toiletries you used to their storage area
• Put back all the magazines and books you read the night before to the self made for them.
• Return the remote controls to their rightful space.
• Place your slippers on the shoe rack.
These are simple step but can do wonders. You can add up some things for yourself into this list and see what it can do for you.
Another wise trick to avoid room clutter would be to make sure that you have enough storage space and a corresponding container for any one thing you have in your room that has to be kept. When you store items that you don’t use daily, do it with labels or color codes if you wished. This trick would be possible if you know how to declutter your room in designated times: once a week if you’re just starting in your quest for organization, twice if you have gotten the hang of it and there’s no more junk found in your room.
In the end, it all boils down to you being not too attached to material things and you sticking with the essential items in your room. So unless you want to put up a museum of your personal items, the best way to go is give and share what you don’t use.
