Perhaps one of the clutter that you can easily organize is your clothes. In fact for many people when you mention the word declutter, the first thing they would think of is cleaning up the closet. The reason for this is that for most people clothes are what can easily be given away. When it’s no longer fad or not the right season for it, the best thing to do is give it away to somebody who lives in the “shelter” nearby.
It’s pretty easy huh but the next day you’ll realize you have given away your most favorite shirt. Although generosity is a noble reason for it; it won’t be good to deprive yourself of the happiness as well. And most of all, you can’t find anything like it anywhere, even from a yard sale.
So to help you sort out the right clothes to give away and retain the ones you need, you have to know these wise tips to declutter clothes in your closet:
Before you arrange your clothes into your closet, you have to sort out first which are those that haven’t been use for about a year now. There’s a great chance you won’t be using them at all. You can include here clothes that you don’t like that much and those that don’t fit you. You can lay all your unwanted clothes on your bed and place all those that you want in another area of the room.
One of the best means to declutter clothes would be to designate areas in your closet for different clothes according to seasons. You can even do it further such as categorizing them as casual, formal, sports wear, etc. This will narrow down your collection into those that you really need, plus it becomes more accessible for you as well.
It may work also if you can keep those clothes that are meant for the current season in a separate storage area. It may be a box or another closet in your room.
Lastly don’t forget about the one item in one item out principle. You have to take out an old item for each new one taken in. It doesn’t follow though that you have to take in as much items that you have taken out when you declutter clothes.
