They say it takes time to remove clutter in your home or office. That only happens if you always leave things for tomorrow. When you want to declutter your home, today is always the best time to do so. It doesn’t have to be a complete overhaul. You can do it step by step but consistently and in time you’ll realize how fast you are going in your organizing efforts.
Look for a place to start
Always start from the area where it is needed the most. Usually this is the place where you frequently stay. You can spend a weekend cleaning it up and come up with a maintenance plan to keep things organized. Then go to the next part of the house. One thing to keep you organized in your organizing effort is to come up with a plan. In that way, you have some sort of vision board that will remind you of your organizing goals.
You can ask for help but not too many
You will be spoiling your plan if you invite too many helpers in your organizing activity. If you want to end clutter fast, make sure you invite those who have experienced doing it themselves. There’s a great chance that they will be excited and genuinely willing to help. They are not just after the couple of drinks that come after.
Make use of helpful organization products only
Control your urge to buy the latest trend in organizing if it’s not what you need or if there’s no room for it in your small cottage. You will be tempted by the many labeled storage containers, suspended shoe racks, and all kinds of racks, but remember you won’t be needing them if half of your house is filled with old items that are worth giving away.
Remember the organizing golden rule
Take out an old item for every new one you take in. This will help you to end clutter fast and easy. When you do this, you have balance in your home. All things stored are of the same number as that when you first organized it.
