Maintaining a home office need a lot of effort especially in organizing home paperwork. Time and time again you would sadly find yourself in the midst of a clutter if you do not work with a system. And many times you would surely be wasting precious time in looking for one particular document to no avail. But if you have a system that is effective, no time would be wasted and you could go about your daily business without any hassle.

Perhaps the most dominant "stash" you will have in your home office is the paperwork and organizing this could be quite a burden especially for those who have not started with a system yet. But for those who already have a system yet still find themselves having trouble sorting and filing, perhaps the system you are using is no longer effective. This calls for a change. The main proponents of organizing home paperwork are gathering, sorting, purging and assigning a place for the items involved. Take time to do the essentials of organizing. Foremost of all, gather all of the loose paperwork – those without a particular "home", those that are displaced and are scattered all over tables, chairs and the floor. How to Get Rid of Your Clutter

A lot of people do not know how to obtain no more clutter in their homes. What most people are not aware of is the fact that, the only trick in getting the house maintained and cleaned is to take it one step at a time. Listed below are eight simple yet very effective ways of having no more clutter in your home.

1. Go through your things classify them into the following groups –

• Essentials – these are the things that you do not want to lose track of. Things like your current school work, textbooks, gear for a favorite sport, or any other item that you should have almost every day.

• Favorites – these are the items that you truly love and enjoy having like photos and other mementos from your friends. Items of value and are breakable of fragile like jewelry, art pieces, musical instruments and the likes also belong in this category.

• Not Yours – these are the items that are, obviously, not yours. Items can be anything borrowed from a friend or something that was just placed in your room by a sibling or any other household member. You can also include in this group the books that you have borrowed from the library that are mostly overdue and needs to be returned.

• Junk – this category is for your old, old mails and old magazines that pile up in the corner accumulating dust and eating up space.

• Garbage – dirty dishes, leftover pizza and the likes are a common sight under this category.

2. Get rid of the dirty and gross stuff. Throw them away, soak it in the sink or disinfect it.

3. Sift through your junk with a sense of direction and focus. If you do not need it, do not keep it. Clip or group together any articles from old magazines and recycle these magazines (you will have no more clutter is you recycle your old magazines as soon as a new batch arrives). Store the items in filing cabinets, closets or boxes.

4. Place other people’s stuff in a box and label them according to the owner. Now is the perfect time to return them.

5. Plan where your favorite items will go. Loose pictures should be kept neatly in an album. If you do not have a box for your jewelry, buy yourself one. If you wish to display some of these items, make sure you clear out a separate shelf for them. You might want to consider putting your favorite objects in areas where your younger siblings or your pets can’t reach them and ruin them altogether.

Getting rid of clutter is not that difficult to do. For as long as you have a clear idea of the things that you want and don’t, having no more clutter in your home will happen soon.

Tips on How to Organize Your Home Bills

Bills are one of the most important letters that a person gets from the mail. No matter how much we hate the sight of these bills, we still have the obligation of reading and paying them on time. Since this is a chore that most people dread, it gets left is some drawer and tends to be put off for a later time and then forgetting them altogether. Hence, we get unpaid bill.

Here are a few tips in organizing home bills so you will never forget them anymore.

First, sort the mail as you get them from the mailbox or the post office. Throw away the junk mail fast! This usually cuts your mail in half. In your home, create a mail area. This area can be any area in your home, preferably the area where your mail normally gets put. In this area you will be able to sort out the letters and home bills and be organized at the same time. You can get an accordion folder where you can label the top of each section with the different bills you have. Color coding is also an option. This accordion folder is you “Things-to-do” folder. Other mail should be put in an inbox tray or just a simple small wire basket. Letters that has personal information such as your social security number or credit card numbers should be shredded once read, and the junk mail such as leaflets, marketing flyers should go directly to your trash bins.

If there are a lot of bills and they wouldn’t fit into a folder alone, get a filing cabinet but still do the same process. Label each section of the cabinet as to what type of bill is there and set aside a folder or a section for those pending or needs to be paid bills. Once the bill is paid, file it is a separate folder (also labeled) by punching 2 holes on top and using a paper fastener to bind it in the folder. If paper fastener is too small to fit your home bills month after month, then another option in organizing home bills is to use a 2 or 3 ring binders. This will keep your filing cabinet organized and your home bills paid on time.

Keeping the paper bills out of sight and organized in your little folder or your filing cabinet is one thing, but remember to pay them on time is another thing. Though we’ve kept them in a separate folder of “things-to-do”, there is still a tendency to forget the due dates on these home bills. So in organizing home bills further, record all the due dates for each month. It is best to plot them on a desk calendar and put it on the door of your fridge. This way you will always see it and would not forget it. If you’re more of a techie person than a manual one, you can set up the calendar in your computer and it can even have alarms or alerts. You can customize alerts to pop up a day or even a week before the due date (to make time for that check that needs to be mailed). So much for organizing home bills, huh!
