Professionals have given their two cents worth about stopping clutter. Others have come up with books, e-books, videos and what have you to tell people what they have to say to stop clutter in anyone’s life.
When you say clutter it can be in mind or in the physical realm. Some people have seen clutter in their lives. They have too many emotional baggage and psychological hang-ups. Sometimes all it takes actually is to clean up your place and keep organizing and from there work you way up to clearing your mind and being focused.
Hence, to stop clutter in your home or office, or home office at that, you have to keep in mind some principles. First find the source of the clutter. Imagine when you don’t have enough storage space for your magazines and books, then all of them are found scattered in your living room sofa or the master bedroom. For you to get rid of it, you simply put up some shelves in one corner of your room to place all your books there. In that way, you can easily access it as well. So you see, the source can be anything. It can be a hook for several scattered and often misplaced keys or a bill holder for all the bills found on the dining table. It only takes common sense to fix all these.
Next principle to consider is taking out an old item for any new one in. If you find your place bursting with too many things chances are you are a mindless keeper of junk. Come to think of it, many people in your neighborhood or even in some third world country would make use of some stuff that you tried to keep for so long they take half of your home space. So for your sanity’s sake, give away all those who are not in use and when you buy a new pair of shoes make sure you take out that old pair of sneakers you haven’t used in a year.
These are just simple to follow principles, but they will surely do you good in becoming organized and at the same time generous.
